Competition

The BBC have given the teenagers of Britain the opportunity to use their voice and tell us what they are thinking. The Speaker is bound to generate a huge amount of interest as we hear what is actually going on in the minds of tomorrow’s leaders!

Now here is an opportunity for the adults to talk back; a competition for anyone in the Dorset area aged over 18 years who would like to get their opinion heard and win some great prizes in the process.

Over the next two months you are  invited to submit a video of your speech on the subject of your choice. These will be judged and the best three invited to compete to become the first winner of The Dorset Speaker.

Don’t worry if you think you don’t have the skills to do this, Phil Gadd has provided some helpful tips to produce your video for entry into the competition.

Terms and Conditions

This is not a contest to find the best speaker, its not for professional speakers or politicians. This is for the people of Dorset and surrounding area to discover existing skills you have and to develop new ones as you get to express your thoughts and ideas.

Whether you have written a short story, poem or have a burning social issue to comment on, we want to hear from you.

Our team of judges will choose three applicants to compete for the title of The Dorset Speaker 2009.  If you are chosen you will receive a full day training with Steve Graham and a copy of Lend Me Your Ears by Professor Max Atkinson.

Each finalist will present their speech to a panel of experienced speakers who will choose the winner. The winner will receive a years membership of Toastmasters International and personal mentoring from Steve Graham as they progress and develop their speaking skills over the following year.
